چکیده
Introduction Studies in our laboratory focus on development of vascular targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) based on bacteriochlorophyll derivatives as photosensitizer drugs, elucidation of its mechanism of action and development of new applications for photodynamic therapy (PDT) such as treatment of Extrauterine Pregnancy (EUP). These studies are in collaboration with Prof. Avigdor Scherz Dept. of Plant Sciences, (see respective abstract in this book)

Vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) of a canine-transmissible venereal tumour in a murine model with Pd-bacteriopheophorbide (WST09).
Abstract Treatment of canine-transmissible venereal tumour (CTVT) with local vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) using Pd-bacteriopheophorbide (WST09) as a drug is suggested as an alternative to conventional chemotherapy. Male CD1 nude mice were subcutaneously grafted with the xenograft-transmissible canine venereal tumour (XTVT). The VTP protocol delivered once consisted of intravenou...

Objective: Monitoring emerging vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) and understanding the time-dynamics of treatment effects remains challenging. We interrogated whether handheld multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) could noninvasively monitor the effect of VTP using WST11, a vascular-acting photosensitizer, on tumor tissues over time using a renal cell cancer mouse model. We al...

BACKGROUND Antiangiogenic and anti-vascular therapies present intriguing alternatives to cancer therapy. However, despite promising preclinical results and significant delays in tumor progression, none have demonstrated long-term curative features to date. Here, we show that a single treatment session of Tookad-based vascular targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) promotes permanent arrest of tumo...

WST11 is a novel negatively charged water-soluble palladiumbacteriochlorophyll derivative that was developed for vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy (VTP) in our laboratory. The in vitro results suggest that WST11 cellular uptake, clearance and phototoxicity are mediated by serum albumin trafficking. In vivo, WST11 was found to clear rapidly from the circulation (t1/251.65 min) after intrave...
